1999 June/Editorial

Dear Friends and Benefactors,

June is the month of the Sacred Heart. It is also the month in which most ordinations of the priests of the Society of St. Plus X take place. As always we recommend to your prayers these mostly young men who will consecrate their lives to God in the service of souls. It is interesting to read in the life of St. John Bosco, that one of his great desires was to institute the training of priests not just from among the youth when only 6 or 7 out of a hundred would persevere to the priesthood but also from young men or adults, when out of a hundred about ninety reach their goal. In the Society perhaps fewer enter straight out of high school but a good number with good will and adequate qualifications come some years later perhaps after university or some years of work Perhaps in the world as it is today it is not ninety out of a hundred but those who do persevere are in some ways miracles of grace. So too, they are quickly swallowed up by the faithful throughout the world. This year there are possible some 24 ordinations for the Society and that we will have one of them is already a blessing. Let us thank God for the seminaries and the training that is given there. And let us thank Him for the Bishops whom Archbishop Lefebvre had the courage and will to consecrate for the Catholic world.

Let us have great confidence in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Who opened His heart on Calvary to give us no excuse for not returning to Him from our sinful paths. Sacred Heart of Jesus I place all my trust in Thee.

Yours faithfully,

Fr. Loren Gerspacher
