Dear Friends and Benefactors of Society of St Pius X Beliefs,

His Excellency Bishop Fellay, Superior General of the Society has recently urged us in a newsletter that the Rosary Crusade must be renewed. He reminds us that it has always been through Our Lady and especially through the Rosary that so many victories have been obtained for the Church since the Middle Ages. “After the Mass it is the preferred weapon of the Church when in distress or danger,” for we must not be deceived, “we are at war” that “will lead to a physical and violent persecution. It is a fight to the death that has been under preparation for a long time. It seems that the noose is tightening and that a mechanism is being put in place everywhere, but not exclusively, in France. We see this with the projected laws regarding independent schools, the investigations and increased surveillance, the clear statements wherein it is said that only sects make pretentious claims of exclusively possessing the truth.” Therefore, he says, there is need for “A Rosary Crusade for the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the triumph of the Church over her enemies who attack from without and within. A Crusade to which we invite all the faithful; a Crusade calling for heroic Christian virtues in a world that has once more become pagan or atheistic; a Crusade for the Faith, the Mass and Tradition.”

His Excellency also spoke of the importance of the jubilee of the year 2000, a Holy Year, and of the importance of as many taking part in this as possible. Of this I shall continue in the next issue. All in our Priories are united in prayer for the intentions of all the traditional faithful in southern Africa that you may receive many blessings in this new year of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Yours in Christ,
