Society of Saint Pius X Africa

A Word from the Superior

Dear Friends and Benefactors

Fr. Nichlaus Pfluger, Mgr. Fellay, Fr. Allen Nely

I wish to address you a few words upon the conclusion of the General Chapter. As most of you know already, the General Chapter voted Mgr. Fellay in again as Superior General, a charge which he will be required to fulfill for the next twelve years. His two previous assistants, however were not re-elected. Whereas Fr. Scmidberger fulfilled the task of first assistant for the last twelve years and His Excellency Bishop de Galareta as second assistant, they are now replaced with Swiss born Fr. Nichlaus Pfluger (left) as first assistant, and French born Fr. Allen Nely (right) as second.

After the elections, the General Chapter, consisting of 40 members had to deliberate upon many questions and problems.

Of the many important issues, I wish to pass on to you two very important ones. The first is a declaration. In substance you will find therein nothing new or different to what the Society has always held. Nevertheless, since in the last two or three years our talks with Rome have excited a certain fear in many souls. There are many who fear that the Society may be weakening her stand on the Mass or some aspects of doctrine, or that we may fall unawares into a trap set up by the enemies of the Church. Of course, their fears are not unfounded because after all, the Society has no promise of infallibility and we are made up of weak human beings. It is for this reason that it was judged necessary to reassure our good faithful by making such a declaration. In no way denying or minimizing the grace of God, we do hope that your hearts may be strengthened in confidence.

The second point I need to mention is our desire to storm heaven. The true Mass has been denied her rightful place in the Church now for close onto 40 years. The damage this has done to souls is simply unaccountable. God alone knows! You know dear faithful that the Society has done everything in her power to reinstate the Sacrifice of the Mass which has been usurped by this man-centered liturgy which they call a mass. The pope, Benedict XVI seems to acknowledge the fact that the new mass has not had the "good" fruit that Rome expected. He seems to want to go back. But, this does not necessarily mean that he wants to go back to the Tridintine Mass. He is still far too much in love with Vatican II and cannot see that the aftermath which he himself deplores is precisely the fruit of this council.

It is the wish, therefore of the General Chapter of the Society to storm heaven once again. This time we wish to give the Holy Father a spiritual bouquet of one million rosaries for the intention of bringing back the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. We intend to accomplish this world wide by the end of October. There is a true saying which reads: God governs the world but prayer governs God. Doubly so if the prayer is precisely the one Our Lady had asked of us: The Holy Rosary. Now then, dear faithful, with this intention in mind and counting upon your generosity, I have added herewith a "treasure chart" which I invite you to mark every time you recite a rosary (5 decades) for this intention. When it is filled, please send it back to me and I will add it to the spiritual treasure of Southern Africa. It seems to me that I could count upon 60 thousand rosaries from Southern Africa from now until the end of October?!

Let us have confidence in the Mother of God, Virgin most powerful, but let us not forget that we have sinned before God. Therefore, with a humble and contrite heart, let us have confidence in the Virgin most powerful, the Mother of God. May the Immaculate Heart of Mary be our refuge and may God bless you.

Servus Mariæ
