"Son, in
all thy works remember thy last end!, and thou shall never sin."
(Eccus. 7; 40)
Because Adam and Eve turned their hearts away from their last end, Who
is God, and fixed their treasure on the forbidden fruit, heaven was closed
and we all suffered in consequence.
Now then, let us turn our hearts upon the new fruit who hangs upon the wood of the cross, who is Our Lord Jesus Christ so that we may go to heaven.
But, our souls are wounded because of sin. We have become so prone to evil. It is therefore necessary to do violence against ourselves so as to cleave our hearts to Our Lord and not to ourselves.
Let us therefore do all we can during this lent in order that we may not loose sight of our last end through Jesus Christ our Lord, and Him, Crucified.
