The
World's Greatest Book
 |
For
thousands of years pilgrims have been going to the Holy Land to visit
the places made holy by Christ, His Blessed Mother, and the Apostles.
Christians from earliest times were filled with love of the Holy Land,
because they had been taught to love the holiest of all books, the
Bible. Even before printing was invented, there were thousands of
copies of different books of the Bible, written out carefully by hand,
kept and studied as great treasures in families, churches, and monasteries.
In church the Bible was read and preached to the people. In school
the children learned the Bible stories by heart. ‘Working men
in their great societies called Guilds often put on plays of Bible
stories for all the people to see. The Bible was part of their life. |
